THE BELOW SEARCH ENGINES ARE NOT AS COMPREHENSIVE AS GOOGLE BUT THEY CAN SOMETIMES BE QUITE VALUABLE FOR OBSCURE SEARCH TERMS.

    The following list includes a number of sites that query multiple search engines simultaneously, and sites that provide direct access to multiple search engines.

    • MetaCrawler
      MetaCrawler is an multithreaded search site that can take your search terms and simultaneously feed them to several sites, then organizes the results into a uniform format and displays them. MetaCrawler combines and normalizes the confidence scores given to each reference by the services that return it.

    • Mamma: The Mother of all Search Engines
      Mamma is a smart meta search engine which relies on the external databases of various Web-based sources. Mamma analyses your queries and properly formats the words for each source. Mamma will then organize the results into a uniform format, and presents them by relevance. The process is comparative to the time spent on any single search engine.

    • SavvySearch
      SavvySearch is a meta-search tool designed to simultaneously send your query to multiple Internet search engines and return a complete set of results. You can request anywhere from 10 to 50 results from each engine that you query. SavvySearch also lets you restrict your searches to particular types of information, e.g., Web resources, People, and Academic. The search form for SavvySearch is available in several other languages.

    • ProFusion
      ProFusion search sends your query to multiple search engines at the same time. Search results returned by all search engines are then combined with duplicates removed and relevance factors recalculated. This site also offers a personalized search service which allows you to register your regular queries and let ProFusion run them for you periodically and tell you when there are new results.

    • Dogpile
      Dogpile provides a multi engine semi-parallel search interface that automatically searches more than 20 search engines 3 at a time. Dogpile allows for continued searching options and Boolean operators.

    • AccuFind
      The AccuFind JavaScript search engine brings together multiple search engines under several categories: hot, books, business, government, law, life, news, reference, shopping and technical. You can select a category first, then select a search engine from the pull-down menu within the category, and submit a query to the search engine.

    • SuperSearch
      SuperSearch provides a multi-search-engine-interface implemented in JavaScript. With SuperSearch, you can submit a search query to selected multiple search engines classified in the following categories: Crawlers, Indices, Usenet, People, Meta, Articles, Software, and Unsorted. Search result from each of the engines selected are presented in separate windows. SuperSearch requires Netscape 2.0 or Internet Explorer 3.0.

    • All-4-One
      All-4-One lets you submit a search to Alta Vista, Lycos, HotBot, Excite at the same time. It presents the search results from these four search engines in four windows in the same page.

    • Internet Sleuth
      Internet Sleuth has the largest, most comprehensive collection of search engines on the Net -- more than 2000 of them. Internet Sleuth covers many specialized databases. The engines are organized into 21 main subject categories and many subcategories. A parallel search engine has recently been installed which allow searching up to 10 databases simultaneously, both on the Home Page and within most of the categories. In addition, Internet Sleuth offers a search tool to allow you to search titles and descriptions of search engines included in the Sleuth.

    • Search.com from Clnet
      Search.com provides the user with direct access to over 250 search engines. The engines are organized into 14 subject categories, allowing the user to narrow a search by selecting engines in a particular subject category. The best engines as determined by search.com are indicated by a "top pick" icon. Searches are performed per search engine at a time. Search.com also offers a search tool by which you can search the titles of all the search engines provided. Recently, Search.com added an express search facility where you can pick a search tool from the list box of an express search, type in a quick query, and fire off the search.

    • All-in-One-Search
      All-in-One-Search page places more than 200 search engines on one Web site. The engines are organized into 11 subject categories. Searches are performed per engine at a time.

    • CUSI
      CUSI (Configurable Unified Search Engine) at Nexor provides you with a configurable search interface for many searchable WWW resources classified into several categories: WWW Indexes, Robot Generated Web Indexes; Other Internet Indexes; Software; People; Documents and Dictionaries. CUSI allows you to quickly check related resources, without having to navigate and re-type the keywords.

    • TOSS (Tribune Online Super Search)
      TOSS (Tribune Online Super Search) meta-search site provides easy access to more than 120 search engines classified into 9 categories. Each search engine is commented and has a search form. The site is regularly updated.
